SMALL GROUPS

The real life of The Church of the Valley is in our Small Groups. If you want to be involved, grow in your faith, and become someone mightily used of God, getting involved in a Small Group is your first step! And if you don't find the right fit the first time, try again until you do and watch how the Lord mightily blesses you and your family!

Our Small Groups provide each person at The Church of the Valley with a group in your area that will partner together with you to help you accomplish your life's goals!

Small Groups meet on many varied schedules as fits each group. In a Small Group, you will develop friendships based on your faith and will have a group around you who will provide care when you are facing illness, help with your challenges, and prayer support.

These groups are the heart and soul of The Church of the Valley. The Bible says that you cannot love God any more than you love your brother. These Small Groups will help you develop your love for God as you grow in your love for your brother and sister in the Lord. They will help you get beyond the face-to-face, and get to heart-to-heart.  They will help you grow from just knowing about God to really knowing Him on a personal level.

Discovery of one's spiritual gifts often occurs as one participates in the studies and activities of the small group.  Our small group leaders are committed to the discipling process as Jesus described it in the Great Commission, Matthew 28:18-20.

Our small groups serve those who are just beginning to walk with Christ but who want to continue to grow as disciples.  They are for those who are older in their faith but also want to grow spiritually  and become more effective in serving Christ.

So, small groups are:
People:  At all different stages of Christian experience - beginners to veterans.

Growing: at their own pace as God enables

  • In knowledge of Christ and His will for their lives
  • In love for God, others and themselves
  • In the experience  of sharing burdens and joys
  • In the experience of answered prayers
  • In discovering practical truths from the Bible for their personal lives
  • In effectively helping others to understand how to trust Christ as Savior and Lord.

Groups meet informally in homes one night a week, for approximately two  hours.  This allows for in-depth study of the Word, intimate fellowship and sharing and personal growth that is enriched by both time and experience.

Each group consists of no more than 14 members:  young and old, married and single (though couples are urged to attend together), new Christians and older Christians, people from all walks of life.

Each person willingly commits themselves to regular attendance and active participation in all the activities of the group.

To find a Small Group in your area, or if you are interested in knowing more about our Small Groups, please contact Pastor Bill Helmintoller at 540-888-9125 or send him an email at whtharvmin@aol.com.
